Man dies in New Year tragedy

A MAN died and his wife is fighting for her life after they were struck by a car as they walked home from New Year celebrations.

Stephen Campbell, 49 from Urmston, died when he was struck by a Volvo estate on Stretford Road close to the junction with Gilpin Road, in Urmston. His wife Rosemary, 53, remains in a critical condition in Hope Hospital.
